AIRDRIE Ignas

Associate Concertmaster

Airdrie Ignas has been an active member of the Lethbridge musical community since moving from Vancouver in 2010. She holds the position of Associate Concertmaster with the Lethbridge Symphony Orchestra and second violinist in the symphony’s quartet-in-residence, Musaeus.

Airdrie enjoys a diverse performing career including additional symphonic engagements with other orchestras in the region, regular chamber concerts with her trio Opus 3, contributions to various film scores, and performances with popular artists such as Kanye West.

Airdrie’s warm and encouraging rapport with her students combined with her passion for pedagogical excellence have quickly established her as a popular and in-demand teacher both in Lethbridge and its surrounding communities. She offers lessons in both the Suzuki method and RCM based curriculum, as well as instruction in non-classical styles. Airdrie also teaches as a sessional instructor for the University of Lethbridge’s Fine Arts and Education departments.

Airdrie began her violin studies at the age of 3, going on to complete a Bachelor of Music in Violin Performance from UBC and a Masters of Music from the University of Lethbridge and residencies at The Banff Centre. Her teachers include Andrew Dawes, Jasper Wood, Evelyn Creaser-Rumley and Peter Visentin. Her master’s thesis explores the rise of the French Violin School and the standardization of string pedagogy and has been the subject of several international conference presentations.
