JESSICA GROENEVELD
Violin
Jessica began playing violin at the age of 8, under the tutelage of Laurie Syer, after begging her mother for lessons for three years. She moved to Lethbridge in 2013 to pursue her Bachelor of Music degree, where she studied with Peter Visentin and Airdie Ignas and joined the Lethbridge Symphony Orchestra that same year.
Jessica began teaching violin in Lethbridge at McGill Music and Arts in 2014 and moved to the University of Lethbridge Music Conservatory in 2016. She is passionate about ensuring that all children who dream of learning an instrument are given that chance, and in 2020, she founded the non-profit Branches Fine Arts Academy specifically designed for low-income and vulnerable families in our community.
Jessica loves being a part of the music community in Lethbridge and believes that when we all come together, we create something truly magical. When Jessica is not teaching, she is most likely to be found curled up with her dogs, a book and a warm cup of tea.
